Text Editors
To work with JavaScript files, you'll need a text editor (Word won't work!). There is a text editor already on your computer, but I suggest you look into one of the free text editors listed below that are designed for writing code:
Windows
- Notepad : Built-in to Windows
- Notepad++. Free and easy to use.
- Atom: Free and very customizable.
Mac OSX
- TextEdit.app : Built-in to Mac OS X
- TextWrangler: Free and easy-to-use.
- Atom: Free and very customizable.
- SublimeText: A professional-grade text editor with a price tag to match. ($70). This is what I use, but a lot of folks have switched to Atom.
Linux
- Atom: Free and very customizable.
